At THCC we expect Children to be lively and actively welcome them in our worship time.
Our vision for the children’s work is to provide a safe place for children to explore their faith and find out what being a Christian means to them.
We aim to build strong foundations in our children; for them to build on as they grow older.
In order to achieve this, children stay in the service to worship with the Church for the first half an hour or so. They then go to one of three groups:
Crèche for 0-3’s (including children in nursery)
Children are welcomed into this area to play, create and learn about Jesus. Towards the end of the session they help tidy up, then sit down for a snack while they are taught a story from the Bible.
Younger group 4-7’s (KS1)
This age group has more focused activities for the whole session. These include worship time; craft; games; Bible story and prayer.
Older group 7-11’s (KS2)
The older group starts with a game. They have a Bible study and a craft activity. The meeting ends with a prayer time, where the children are encouraged, but not forced, to join in.
The leaders for these teams are parents and others who are passionate about children’s work. Hannah Genn (pictured) is our children’s pastor. Her aim is to work with the parents and children to make Church a fun and accessible place for children of all ages.
